Personal Training

What is Personal training? It is a one-to-one service, where we will help you to achieve specific goals. This goal could be to improve your muscular strength, increase your cardiovascular fitness, gain, or lose weight, prepare for an event, such as a race, or hiking holiday, as well as injury recovery.*

Although you are welcome to book a single session, we recommend that you book at least six sessions, which is generally the minimum time period over which you will start to see the changes you will make, on the way to your goal.

We have a well-equipped gym area, where we will conduct your session, which is set up for cardio, strength training, core-work and stretching.

One of the most important aspects of personal training is setting goals and measuring progress, using the SMART principle, where any goal you have has to be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based. An initial meeting is set, where we discuss your goals, set a time period to meet them and determine how we will measure your progress. We will then track your sessions and give feedback on your progress.

Whatever your goal, whether it is to increase your cardio fitness, build your muscular strength, or change your body composition, nutrition is a keystone to success. Simon has a L2 qualification in understanding nutrition and health, which includes understanding eating disorders. He can help you gain a better understanding of nutrition and how it will enable you to reach your goals. Depending on your goals, you may be asked to keep a food diary, so that we can better understand your nutritional needs. There are nutrition tracking apps that we use and recommend to help with this.

Pricing

A block of six, one-hour, personal training sessions is £180. If you wish to have further one-off sessions after this, then they are £40 per session. These sessions are tailored to your goals and include progress monitoring and nutritional support. You may be asked to keep a food & exercise diary.

Availability & Booking

Please contact us for availability and booking enquiries. Currently we have class teaching commitments most evenings, so only have day-time slots available.

Payment & Terms

Payment for the blocks must be paid in advance or a 50% deposit in advance and the remainder payable on Week 2. Single sessions must be paid in full, in advance.

Cancellation/transfer is 24 hrs in advance. Any sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be forfeited.

You will be asked to complete a questionnaire to learn more about you, your lifestyle and your goals. If you want help with nutrition and weight loss, a food diary for 7 days, will be essential, too, so that we can help you make positive changes.

You will be sent a form to complete in advance and then have a chat prior to the first session.
We recommend taking a variety of body measurements and photos so you can chart progress, you can take your own photos but we can help to show you how to take correct measurements for consistency. We can also take body-fat measurements using callipers, for accurate results, as body fat scales are not very accurate. Amanda will do this for our female clients.

You must complete an Informed Consent form, before starting any training.

*Please be aware that we are not trained in injury diagnosis. We can assist in injury rehabilitation, with the authorisation of your GP, physiotherapist, osteopath, etc. once you have received your diagnosis.
